A trompe d'oeil in Abbey Wood !
Certainly brightens up the way to the station.

Caught my eye this ornate statue - complete with bird - of the Hungarian composer it's in the middle of a traffic island opposite South Kensington tube. No artist so a bit of research needed unless you know!
.....Google as ever reveals all...see below.

I went down to see what all the fuss was about.
Hmmm....I must admit I went with baggage as the Tate Modern is establishment (to me!) lacking any real Street cred cf The Cans Festival which WAS street it didn't need to call itself street as was street literally!
I admired this image for its size and immediacy but after that the rest of the works seem just big just OK just big pictures on the side of a big building all a bit too indulgent for me.
Interesting to see that Big Art Mob gets a big mention on the Tate Site and Big Mob in return bigs up Tate Modern all very cosy!!

OK couldn't resist posting something else from the (great) Cans Festival - this great spoof of Michelangelo's David.
netx to a man playing the piano whcih really caught the spirit of ordinary people from every work(?!) of life who attended the Festival.
Was I the only BigArtBlogger lucky enough to attend?

This is one of the last major works in the unbelievably, outstanding Cans Festival.....an international group of graffiti artists, depending on what you hear/read, brought together by POWand/or Banksy. Either way deep respect to both this is a great, great show - something for everyone , as they say. I understand it’s going to be in the alley for six months...this is a must see, you wont be disappointed, unless of course your local authority...….
I miss read this piece at first thinking it was suicide but his (?) knife has no blood so he (?) was attacked and left for dead...big city inner city fate life and death in 2008....for me one of his best works.

These signs have started to appear on the pavement in SE London.
First saw them in the park...now they're appearing in the street.
Not quite sure if this is an act of public health and saftey by the council, art or just a pile of s h one t!
Looks very nice on the fresh black tarmac...no so sure about the pavement :-)

Found this outside the Dylan Thomas Theatre in Swansea - lovley bronze piece, makes him look quite young and being life-size very approachable.
...and it has a plaque so you know what it's about..with a Thomas quote..."Though I sang in my chains like the sea"
So this scores high with me - plaque, life-size and you can look him in the eye - 10 out of 10 for presentation
