What did you think of the exhibition?

Big, and quite fun I suppose. Certainly a crowd-pleaser. Kapoor's work seems to be getting bigger, more spectacular and sillier as time goes by, and as he gets more famous and pleases everyone with his big reflective surfaces and splattered red gunk. I prefer him when his amazing sense of colour, material and illusion work more discreetly on smaller, often less corporately-funded pieces. Exhibitions I enjoyed more that day were a beautiful joint exhibition of 70s English minimalist Bob Law's paintings, drawings and sculpture. This was at Tomas Dane and Karlsten Schubert Gallerys (until Jan 16th). On the way to one of those, by happy accident on Duke Street St James's I was drawn in to a really punchy show of 17th century Dutch & Flemish painting at Johnny Van Haeften's Gallery. Best show of the winter for me though is a serious artist with a real sense of fun and a love of jokes. John Baldessari at Tate Modern (ends Sun 10th Jan) – best thing I've seen for ages! Here ends the winter 2009-10 London exhibition round-up!
